Insecurity is mistaken for confidence, or overconfidence. When I am at my most insecure in a social situation, that’s when I make mistakes. That’s when I don’t say hi to people; that’s when I act like a jerk. Because I think, “Why would they want to talk to me? They’re so important, and now I’ve said something stupid, and I’m just going to shut the hell up.” It’s when I’m not confident that I think I come off as cold or uncaring. And it is when you feel secure and comfortable that you are able to open up and be a good person and show people more of yourself and be kinder.
